Silent appointment

I absolutely love this. Saw it on Facebook this week and could relate on so many levels. There was a time in my life when I was struggling that I would have jumped at this opportunity.

There are several points here:

  1. Self care is important and particularly when one is struggling with mental health - please look after yourself and choose things that will boost your mood if struggling with things such as anxiety and depression.

  2. If you're a friend of someone who is struggling, just being there, 'silently' (or without much chat) supporting and listening is all that is needed. You might want to support a friend who is struggling but not know what to say. Just being there is enough. You don't need to have the answers. Sharing a cup of tea and listening is much appreciated.

  3. Relaxation is important. When struggling with mental health issues, doing something that will really relax you physically and mentally can give your brain a break from trying to work it all out. Find what works for you - listening to music, breathing techniques or progressive muscle relaxation.

Finally a big thank you to Jade (in Eastbourne if you're interested) for her beautiful sensitivity and permission to share her post here.
