How?

Every day for a week, write down three positives: things that went well for you today, good things that happened, things you achieved or things that you enjoyed. You can add these on small pieces of paper into a jar and read them at the end of the week

Create a record of your positives by writing them down rather than doing the exercise in your head. Examples can be very small and ordinary (e.g 'my brother lent me his book' or 'I saw a beautiful butterfly in the playground')

Some people find that writing before bedtime is helpful and makes it part of their daily routine.

Why?

Our mind is very good at wandering to the negative point of view. It can be easy in today's busy and stressful times to overlook the simple, positive, peaceful and beautiful. Positives can give us the chance for connection and balance in our day.

By remembering and listing three positive things that happened in your day—and spending time reflecting on why they happened, they can help reframe our focus. This habit can change the emotional temperature for you in each day and have an overall effect on your general happiness.

Why It Works?

This practice helps you to pause, focus and appreciate the positves. It may help you engage in positive things more fully at a later stage. Reflecting on why the event took place may help you tune in to the deeper sources of goodness in your life, and grow a gratitude attitude.
